WHAT MAKES THE 1986 AMERICAN SILVER EAGLE UNIQUE?
This is your opportunity to own the 1986 inaugural edition of the US Modern Coins which is extremely limited. The 1986 S Eagle is the most iconic coin ever minted.
The inaugural release of the Lady Liberty American Eagle created an overwhelming demand for this coveted 1986 since the US Mint sold out within weeks.
1986 is a KEY YEAR for any collector or investor.

- No collection is complete without 1986, 2020 W End of WWII 75th Anniversary Coin and Medal Program, or 2020 and 2021 American Silver Eagles.
Why Collect/Invest in American Eagles?
Each coin is a work of art in its grace and beauty. The American Silver Eagle bullion coins may be used to fund Individual Retirement Account investments. These silver dollars are a great investment as collectors flock to this rare coin.
The American Eagles Design
The design of the obverse side was taken from Adolph A. Weinman’s Walking Liberty Half Dollar from 1916-1947. The obverse is inscribed with the year of minting, the word LIBERTY and the phrase IN GOD WE TRUST.
The reverse side, designed by John Mercanti, portrays the heraldic eagle behind a shield. The eagle is grasping an olive branch in its right talon and arrows in its left talon. Above the eagle are thirteen five-pointed stars representing the Thirteen Colonies. It is inscribed with the phrases the United States of America, 1 oz. FINE SILVER-ONE DOLLAR E PLURIBUS UNUM on the banner that the eagle holds in its beak.
ABOUT JOHN MERCANTI, MILES STANDISH AND ED MOY and MORE HAND SIGNED LABELS
In 1974, John Mercanti began his work for the US Mint as an assistant sculptor and engraver. In 1985, a competition was held and the Commission of the Fine Arts selected John Mercanti’s design to grace the reverse side of the inaugural American Eagle.
Miles Standish, Jim Peed and Edward Moy, Jim Peed, and Mike Castle hand-signed labels are also favorites to own. We have them all plus other important signature American Eagles.
BIG DOINGS AHEAD
In mid-2021, Mercanti’s rendition of the heraldic eagle is rumored to be replaced by a new reverse design. As the excitement grows, the demand for the original 1985, the pre-change 2021, and the soon-to-be-released new design has us all on the edge of our seats.
If not delayed, this would be the only time that the US Mint would be producing two designs in the same year. 2021 is surely shaping up to be a legendary year for collector
